Asphalt Shingle Roofing
Two contractors can quote the same shingle and deliver two completely different roofing systems. Dominion specifies architectural shingle roofs as a complete assembly, not a single product line.
Specified as a complete assembly.
More than the shingle
Long-term performance depends on the materials underneath, the treatment of vulnerable areas, ventilation, fastening, flashing, and the discipline of the installation.
A complete shingle roof system includes decking, drip edge, ice-and-water protection, underlayment, starter shingles, field shingles, fasteners, pipe penetrations, step and wall flashing, intake and exhaust ventilation, and ridge-cap shingles — each with its own role and its own failure modes.
Defined installation standards
Exposure, offset, and course alignment are inspected during and after installation. Nail count, placement, and depth are defined standards and verified in quality checks. Manufactured starter and ridge cap are required, not improvised substitutes.
How the assessment
helps.
The assessment documents the condition of your current covering and every component beneath it, so a shingle system is specified around the roof you have — not a generic quote.
